I have a winner escape, i really dont know too much about it but it will only run with the spark advancer up. When i put it down when she is running it shuts off It stays running when i have someone in the back workin the throttle. Just put plugs in her also. Maby the carb needs rebuilt, and gone through? The boat sat for about a year or two un-touched up-north. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Trouble with 110 Johnson

Could be debris in the carbs. If it runs when the warmup lever is activated, the carb butterflys are slightly open and fuel is delivered thorugh the mid jets. When that lever is pushed down-for normal idle, the carb butterflys close completely. Fuel at idle is delivered through special small passages in the upper carb body. If these passages are not open, the engine will not idle at a normal, low rpm. If fuel was left in the carbs from years ago, (not winterized properly) it may have since dried up and is now obstructing the idle passages. Probably need to overhaul both carbs.
