Setting up a wiring harness with no control box for an 82 50 Evinrude and have been using keyswitch wiring information from this fine forum. I am within one wire of completing the job. Here's the formula:

A - double purple
B - red
M - Black yellow on the raised terminal
C - Purple white
M - Black
S - ???? yellow???

My red plug harness does not have a yellow wire. There are white, tan and gray wires, none of which have a ring terminal. I'm guessing white instead of yellow for the start terminal?

Thanks for any help

Re: Switch wiring

S would go to the yellow and red according to my 82 50 hp remote electric start diagram which goes to the starter solenoid.

A- is purple and red

The rest is correct.

PS- it calls for a neutral start switch between the ignition and the solenoid, FYI

Re: Switch wiring

Perhaps the harness that I am using is from an older setup? It did not come with the 82. No yellow and red with this one.

Re: Switch wiring

Harness on the motor, not the controls, just look for the small wire going to the solenoid.

yes trace the wire from solenoid, connect it where the yellow red wire goes. make sure it was not cut short, every harness I ever seen had that yellow red wire. but I aint seen everything I guess.
