New drive, should I replace water pump?

I bought a brand new SEI outdrive last September and only had the boat out twice after installation. Would it be best to replace the pump now, or should I wait and replace after a couple trips into the season? I was planning on just replacing it now, but was told by a friend it would be a waste.

If its new, with a few uses on it, I would wait till the end of the season at the earliest and do it at winterization.

Your friend is looking out for you...if you need to replace your impeller every 4-5 trips, you are in for a long and tedious boating life!

Watch your gauges, and go have some serious fun.

Happy boating!

Warranty does not cover impellers.

Every other year is best case for being safe, not every 6 months.

Unless you have run it dry or have a problem, run it and stop worrying.
