What tips do you guys have for checking to see if a block is cracked? I have a Volvo Penta 3.0L GSM-A with a blown head gasket and 2 cracks in the head after a bad overheat. With my luck with this boat, I'm expecting to find cracks in the block, too. Needless to say, I really will be going over this with a fine tooth comb. What do you think?

Get it out of the boat, taken apart, cleaned up and find a machine shop capable of doing magnaflux testing.

I was afraid you were going to say that: so there is no way while it's still in the boat?

Ayuh,... You can't do an air pressure test, because you already know the head has Problems...

If you pull the head, then isolate the cooling passages in the block, I suppose it Might work..
But, it'd probably be easier on the bench...
