1979 175 HP Lower Unit Remove Help

Hi
I can't seem to get the shifter screw off, is there any way to do this easily or any tricks.. is it just as hard to put on I want to but a new water pump in.

I use a 1/4" drive socket set with a swivel knuckle. When you get ready to reconnect it, you can move/align the shift rod by accessing it with one hand under the lower cowling while you thread the bolt with the other.

yea, that one is a rough one, as you have to come in from starboard side and reach all the way across.
