I have a 20 ' sailboat weighing about 2,100 pds. I"m using 15 ' of 1/2 inch braided line as my pendant, but was wondering is a 3/8 anchor shackle and swivel, both rated at 2,000 pds sufficient to connect to the chain? Anything bigger cant connect to the chain. I'm using a 3/8' chain from the buoy down to the anchor which is the min requirment in NY.

Re: mooring Tackle

If you're using the minimum, consider whether you will be mooring against extreme conditions--will you leave it out in a hurricane or northeaster?
But in such conditions, you're more likely to drag anchor or have the line part at a worn spot.
I'd say, if you're concerned about your gear being small, paint it and inspect it regularly for any weakening, Tie the shackle pin off with copper or nylon.
