My son-n-law ran my 18' jet boat into the dock busting a 2" wide 5" long chip out on the front where the top is connected to the hull, It's split open 2ft. down the right side & 3ft. on the left..
How do I get back together? Glue? Fiberglass? Screws? It runs but looks like a mouth opening up & down 2" as you head back to the boat launch..

I live on the bayou 20ft from my door.. Have 3 jet boats , 50 years old, never wrecked one!!! Son-n-law needs to go to rehab.........
I have had these for 10 years YET don't savy hull repairs,
Rebuild the engine? OK
Rebuild the jet drive? OK
I feel that I can sand it down then attach top to hull with your knowledge
screws? Fiberglass over ?
There's noway to get inside unless you weigh 80lbs.& flat as a paddle!! There is about 12 inches from floor to top and its 4 feet from the windshield to the repair.

You probably have to split the hull and cap if it is possible.

Epoxy resin is far stronger then polyester resin and if it is a high performance hull I would use epoxy.

Do you have pictures of the damage?

You need to remove the rub rail and have a look.
The top is either attached to the hull with rivets or screws and possibly what they call peanut butter..kinda the glue-filler the boat builder uses.
Either way i got a feeling you have some fiberglass work ahead of you..

Oh man that sounds like some serious damage. Don't think a few screws and some fiberglass is going to fix that. There is structural damage not just cosmetic so the repair needs to be done right.

You need to post detailed photos showing full extent of damage.

Good luck.
