Hi Everyone,
This is my first time on this form and I have never owned an aluminum fishing boat, so I know very little about them. I have a chance to buy a 14.5' aluminum starcraft V-type boat with a 9.9hp Merc motor and an wondering whether it would be a good choice for fishing the Susquhanna river. There are some shallow spots where I would like to fish and I'm wondering how this boat would work in them? What is the minumum depth water required for the boat?

Thanks for the info.

Re: 14.5' Starcraft

If its a flat bottom semi-vee probably 8 inches to float her. A deep V maybe a foot. In either case, though, I personally wouldn't go less than 18".

And of course, with only 18" you would need to use the oars.

My 14" Starcraft Seafarer will run in about 27" of water with the motor in the half tilt (shallow Water drive) position.

Ah ok. I'm familiar with Harrisburg on down but not that area.
