Volvo Dp-D maintenance

Hello all.
Been trying to find something similar through the many different threads but to no result.
So, here goes the question.
I have an DP-D outdrive year around 1993-94.
I have already removed the outdrive.
I have no problems so far with function. Everything seems to work fine.
However, I am already past the hours mark for maintenance.
Which parts are those that need to be checked and replaced as standard, excluding of course the oil change.

Thnx

The ujoint bellows should be replaced every other year. They are thin and can be damaged easily. The exhaust bellows only need replaced when they fail, they are a lot heavier duty. And remove the props, clean and grease the shafts at least yearly with each gear lube change.

Thank you Don for you help.
However, I did not make myself clear.
I was actually talking about opening up the outdrive.
At least the upper housing for now.
Is this something that can be performed by a DIYer? Or there are special tools involved? I do have the repair manual but it does not help much.
I am looking for more practical advice.
I have found this exploded view which from a DP-D1
Could this be of any help?

That's exactly the thing. Looking to avoid problems. Can be costly.
This is why I am asking.

Which manual do you have? As Bond-o said, there is nothing in the drive that is removed for general service.

I have the workshop manual.
It was kindly given to me from the local Volvo Penta dealer so as to photocopy.

Instead of photocopying it, just go up to the adults only sticky and download the OEM manual to your computer. Then print off the pages as you need them.
There is a DP-D manual in there.

Yep, this the one i got too.
It's good though to have it in electronic form.
Thanks a lot.
Anyway, it all seems very complicated.
Do not think I will go through with it.
I 'll just change the oil and that's it.

So, in other words, there is no need for any maintenance in the outdrive except all the external peripherals and the occasional oil change.

Ayuh,... Til it Leaks or Breaks,... Then tear it down for a rebuild/ reseal...

Good choice. It is complicated, and there is a lot of shimming that has to be done, get something wrong, and you find out how much a set of gears will cost, and trust me, you don't want to find out.

Almost forgot, here is a link to Volvo where you can download an owners manual for your engine. It will give you the maintenance schedule of what should be done when.

There is also no need to take off the entire outdrive to change the bellows. You can just take off the top gear assembly and leave the rest of the drive on there.
