I presume that your Lund is aluminum. If it is,that 60 horse engine will make you move very fast.
When the Coast Guard came up with the rating calculations, they calculated according to stern width and height ,and overall length of the boat. Material was not much of a consideration.
Although you can legally hang a 100 horse engine on there, You really do not need it.

I will use my 18.10 foot Sylvan as an example. It is rated for 145 hp,but with the 75 horse engine that is on it,I run 38 mph (GPS).

I believe that the 1989 is a 3 cylinder outboard. These machines are as good as it gets.
They are very fuel efficient (as far as outboards go) and with the proper care it will serve you a long long time.
The VROs on these engines are second generation, but VRO has been abandoned and replaced by a more reliable system. The VRO(I presume the oil pump part) was possibly disconnected for a very good reason and you should not try to reconnect it.Just mix your fuel at 1:50 and stay safe.
As for the stainless prop,it does not make a very big difference, but it does improve performance

I have a 16.5 Nitro fiberglass and my 1992 60 HP Evinrude pushes it just fine. You won't win the "First to the Honey hole" race, but fuel consumption is very friendly
