alpha 1 upper lower separation

Hi Im trying to separate lower from upper drive on a 1986 170 alpha 1 drive have all 5 nuts removed. one far forward. two on front half. two in the back underside . one 3/8 allen underside in the back and the trim tab 3/8 allen, following the manual and it wont come apart. tried light tapping with rubber hammer, Im afraid to pry on aluminum for it may break. and it is in forward gear. any ideas thanks Rich W

I could be wrong, but I thought there were 6 nuts.

yea. the 6th one is turning the wrench lol. manual page 3c-11 tried to post pick

try a heavier rubber mallet.

I apologize, I was thinking 6 nuts to remove the entire drive, not the lower from the upper, good luck!

Got the "sob" off!! Backed off the front two nuts to the point of where they were actually pushing the assemblys apart enough to get my flat bar in and work around it carefully. spreading things apart. no scratches or gouging at all...
