ok first i bought this to be used as a kicker. i noticed on another thread if you tighten the tilt friction bolt, it will hold the motor up. will this work well in rough water, or is it better to put a block of wood under there? i made a wood block last night to hold it up, and made a bent alum arm to hold it in place. will i need this block or just tighten the friction bolt?

also, i noticed on another thread to use 24:1 gas mixture on some of these motors. the manual i bought says 50:1 on this year. is this correct? it does give some years that have 24:1. just want to get it right.

Block of wood or not your choice I would think. I expect the tilt friction will have to be rather tight if you don't.

Yes 50:1 on that model (24:1 if pre 1964)
