I have recently "acquired" a US Marine 9.9 HP Outboard. Serial # 2596 Model 92F7A. Four questions; 1. What year was this manufactured? 2. Are Specs available for this motor? 3. The top covering is missing, where can I find a replacement. 4. What is the current value?

You have a 1987 Force 9.9. Forces were no longer made after the late 90's and are not fully supported with parts. Most people know this so the motor has a much lower value than an equivalent Johnson/Evinrude/Mercury would have. There are places on the net for used outboard parts. I had good luck with tcoutboard.com

Goose84 -I have a US Marine 9.9 HP Outboard. Serial # 1508 Model 92F7A. I can send a picture of the engine cover if you have not found one. My 9.9 works just fine, the only thing I need is some way to keep the cover release handle from unlocking the top of the cover on it's own. Am I missing a spring or retainer?
