Re: Unknown Johnson

No, It is actually a 7.5hp model
The model number is for a standard shaft length but I can see from the picture that it has been extended to make it a long shaft, 508 mm, model

AC means it has an AC lighting coil fitted to power navigation lights etc.

I think it probably has a three wire output to a socket on the lower cover.

If so 12volts AC is available between the yellow and the yellow/grey wires and also between the yellow/blue and the yellow/grey.
It would be possible to fit a rectifier for battery charging if required.

As is sometimes the case with Belgium built models it is not listed in the BRP parts list! Only the non AC versions are shown

It uses a 50:1 fuel mix

The plugs are QL77JC4 (or QL86C) gapped at 0.030" (0.7 to 0.8 mm). L77JC4 plugs would also be suitable

If you can only get NGK plugs then BZ7HS-10 are the nearest equivalents to QL77JC4 and B7HS-10 to L77JC4

No big problem, but actually "BA" means AC Lighting. "CS" means 1980. Ignore the last "S". I understand that most motors sold in the European market were fitted with the AC lighting. Hardly ever see them here. But they are the same motors, with or without the lighting coil.

Yea, they only made that 7.5 hp from 1980 - 1983. I just learned this a couple months ago, when I picked one up in a trade. That one looks like the one I had, except for the long shaft.
