Do not want to pester but I need advice

Like I reported in a previous post I bought a 1982/3 80 hp thunderbolt. the control was taken apart and I suspect that parts went missing and I got no ignition key. I really want to see if I can get this motor started, the suspense is killing me. Is there a way I can hot wire the ignition, maybe use an basic off/on/start ignition switch that i have laying around. What color wires do I connect to a basic switch like that.

You can start it with just the wires find the right diagram like this

A standard auto type OFF, ON, START switch will not work on your two stroke. All you really nead is a jumper wire. Connect the large battery cables to the battery. Use a short piece of wire to jump the small ignition terminal on the solenoid to the large post on the solenoid that has the POS battery cable on it. You will need to choke the engine to kill it.
