Where to get marine carpet on Ontario Canada

Hi,

I have read many posts about pro's/con's to using carpet.. but I am about to undertake repairing (replacing ?) the deck in my 93 Starcraft 171 Eurostar and carpet is what it origionally came with.

Many posts have suggested Home Depot, Cabella's, Bass Pro,etc, but none of the Home Depot or Bass Pro Canadian stores carry the carpet, nor will they ship to Canada.. so, I'm at a loss. Also, being a Canadian, I get hit hard with customs fees, brokerage fees etc whenever I order anything up from the U.S. (West Marine included !)

So, I'm hoping some Canadian members can let me know where I can get carpet from so I can get it ordered before I start into this...

I'm going to reply cause I'm looking for the same thing.

I have a local used boat shop that gets a lot of boats from the US and they are getting a small piece for a patch job. They want $18 per yard for it.

There are West Marine Stores in Ontario.At least I know there is one in Midland,Ont.Not sure if there are others,but I bet there is.

I should be ordering my carpet from a place I found online very shortly. There price was right with Home Depots, and they offer free shipping. I'm not sure if they ship to Canada, but the name is Corinthian Marine.

Should have my samples in shortly.

My 1st comment will be to use iBoats for any online ordering. Take it from a fellow Canadian there is NOTHING like dealing with iBoats as far as shipping duty etc....... absolutely unreal! I am in Waterloo and the order comes with no additional fees or charges of any kind over what you agreed to when ordering, and each time I have ordered comes before the expected arrival date!

Carpet........ personally I have just gone to my local Home Depot store and bought an indoor/outdoor carpet. I am lucky as I wanted a certain colour blue and they had it hanging there and it was cheap.
Another suggestion, although in my experience more expensive, is to go to a carpet store and buy indoor/outdoor carpet here you will get more of a colour choice.

From their website, freight charge means it will cost 3 times as much at least.

Shipping Policy
We ship free to the contiguous 48 states via standard ground transportation. For shipments to Alaska, Hawaii or international, there will be an additional freight charge.

Get a quote for the carpet you want from home depot, then take that quote to Lowe's and they will be it by ten percent...CHA CHING!

Hi There
When choosing carpet make sue it is marine grade...not house or commercial carpet. Marine carpet has a special backing that won't come apart with water and will resist mildew. Have a look at www.boatmats.ca for Canadian marine carpet and flooring options. I recommend Deckadence for outdoor use. Good luck!

I'll throw in a reply as well, although this post is over a year old.

I'm in Ottawa Ontario, and there's a great boating store called "The Chandlery",
also have a website "Chandlery Online", good price on marine carpet, and I believe
their shipping rates won't make ya gag.

I agree with others about "marine" carpet, don't skimp by buying
household or outdoor carpet, you'll regret it if you intend to keep the boat.

In Ottawa also, you need marine carpet, your local flooring store can order you some . I just ordered royal blue marine capret for $2.22 psf no freight.

Last time I needed carpet, I spotted a "big" Dalton, GA marine carpet specialist online. The website was really slick, and they even had the biographies of the owners, etc. I drove by their business, and found a few rolls of boat carpet in the back of a little junky concrete block building. Their website was fraudulent. On the web, you really don't know who you're dealing with.

We have three major lakes within 15 miles, and literally thousands of boats in our area. Our local carpet stores stock all the boat carpets we'll ever need. You should have a carpet dealer in your area that carries marine carpet.

Just make sure you use marine carpet and NOT indoor/outdoor carpet. I don't remember Lowes and Home Depot's carrying specific marine carpet.
