So i re-checked stator,trigger/and coils all good well one coil seemed like 700 ohms but that does not explain no spark any where fired up last week and ran good don't know if i need to replace switch box

It fired up today like normal then just slowed down to off any idea

Fuel pump.. Pump the primer bulb while it's running, if it stays running rebuild your fuel pump.

I'm no expert but I have a mariner 15hp that did the same thing and I replaced the switchbox this week on mine and it cranked right up. The downside to my problem is that now only one cylinder is firing so i'm still having issues. I'd try the switchbox first though then go from there.

Your symptoms don't relate to a spark problem. How do you know it's not getting spark. Did you use a spark gap tester?

no just held close enough to ground but it had spark last week just as i performed this time and it fired up today

what does it sound like to you

It sure sounds like fuel delivery to me. Is the gas tank vented properly and is the vent open and clear?

actually last week cleaned carbs and tank ran new a1 fuel line primer bulb so i even tried to bleed water separator to get any air out today
today primed system as normal choked it then turned it over again as normal and it fired up ran a few then just started falling out then i checked for spark and none looked at carb and bowls full

O.K. then maybe it's heat related. Get yourself a hair dryer. Fire up the motor after letting it cool.

Use the hair dryer on the switchbox, coils, etc., to speed up the occurance of the heat problem. It should be pretty obvious when you get the right component.

Open the cowling and disconnect the mercury kill switch,it is # 33 in diagram. It can be defective or shorting grounding out the kill wire(blk/yel) to pack. Disconnect the blk/yel from the top of it to test.

from the merc switch
or the power pack cause i took the black/yel wire off of switch box to see if i had spark cause i read that somewhere here and still did not
but i did not try merc switch looked at it though

If you took the black wire with the yellow stripe off the switch box and it still did the same thing then that eliminates the merc switch and the lanyard saftety switch and the key switch. Good thing it stops by itself because without the black/yellow wire you can't shut it off unless you pull the plug wires.

Recheck your stator with the engine warm or right after it shuts itself down. I had one that would act up and open as the engine warmed up.

earlier I thought you were saying it would start but slowly die. If no spark at all check your stator for an open winding.

I don't have the tools to pull flywheel but the ohms are on the money

You can ohm test the pack with ohm meter just follow the symbols on the diagram below. this tests the circuits in pack except for the capacitor.

thanks FB going to check now also checked rectifer and continuity is backwards then described in book but it had been charging

the mercury switch did not pass the test either where can i get one i/ve been looking but can't seem to find on3 and do i need it it's manual tilt any way or can i bypass it

Tried to crank this morn to no avail re test trig good and and stator test good also WTF

so to test sw box off of motor
blk lead )grounded to box and showed cont to grn, grn/wht, grn/red
blk lead )grounded to wht/blk showed cont to vio, wht, brn

could get no readings on blk/yel, blu, red

so what did i find out
