65hp Johnson vxl 14B performance

I bought a 15' starcraft v hull with this motor on it. I want to know if this motor is worth using since it is kind of a loaner, being made only 1 year and all. 1)Does anyone have experience with this motor? 2)Is it reliable, and whats the performance like? 3) what should compression check psi be? Thanks!

It is a nice thirsty engine, her ancestor is the "Fat fifty" in 1958 i think, and the made the 60hp in 1965, 66 and in 67 the engine gained 5 hp.
Nice roaring sound, we were having a 1965 60hp, got only 2 little problem with it, changed the clutch dog and the second was the drive shaft, cut in two pieces near the water pump impeller the motor was, at that time 30 years old.

Some peoples here are calling these v4 as bullet proof
