transom hole repair 1st pics

hi all im gonna fill the hole in my transom heres some pics on the start, founf some wet wood not sure if it will dry out, anyone know a quick way to dry out or should i replace? its solid but wet..

I can see from the first photo there is no fiberglass between the skin and the new transom wood. Am I just not seeing it? It should be there.

With a closer look I see it is a plug. As far as being wet, if it's black get'er out. The rot process has begun. From what I see in the photos the bottom of the cutout is rotten.

yeah i was afraid u would say that, so dig it our and replace wood or fill it? i have a photo of a mock up of the jack plate im puttin on there all the stress will be away from the bottom of the hole.

very difficult to see from the pics. but if the wood is wet it can be dryed after a long time. its quicker to replace it

yeah thanks for the reply, gonna see if i can dry it out a bit as i really dont want to repair the whole thing, got a heater under it for now..
