Have a 1995 Wellcraft Coastal 23 and 1995 Johnson OceanRunner. Boats past due for shift and throttle cable replacement. I am not sure how long the replacement cables should be and really want to be certain of required length before ordering them in spring. Is there a way to determine required cable length without removing existing cables? Want to account for bends and such which can ultimately mean the difference between a foot or two. Oh and thanks for the great advice found on the site.

Most cables are stamped in one of three places by Teleflex Corp. Near the remote end, near the engine end and in the case of mine, right in the middle. The last numbers are in inches and tell you the length of the cable.
