Fellow wrote me trying to sell his boat and gave me the following information.

He said it's a Rinker 25' boat made in 1991 and is a Fiesta 250.

The problem, I've looked all over and can't find anything suggesting Rinker made such a boat in 1991. They DID make a Fiesta Vee 250 in 1990 that is listed as a 28' foot boat.

I asked him to send me the Hull ID and he is correct, it was built in 1991 and indeed the title says its a Fiesta Vee 250. I need to sort this out as there is a big difference in value between a 25' and a 28' boat. (My buyers bank certainly thinks so anyhow.)

Any thoughts?

If the 1990 Fiesta Vee 250 is 'listed' as a 28' boat then the 28' is referring to the boat's LOA (length overall), which in this case most likely includes bow pulpit and/or swim platform. Take those away, and it's a 25 footer.

I looked this up in NADA- in 1990 the 250 is listed as having a 'length' of 28'. In 1991 the model name was changed to 260- still with a length of 28'. Your seller has a 1991 boat manufactured under the 'old' model name.

Could be your guy's boat was built early in 1991 and Rinker didn't change the model name until later in the year. Take away the badges and it's the same hull..

Sorry, I was editing my post while you were answering it. Re-read my post above

It's all a manufacturer naming game. My 1999 '240' EC mysteriously became a '248' EC in 2000. No change to the hull whatsoever...

Re: Stumped - Can't find any refference to a Rinker

Both in Buc's Marine and NADA the 250 is listed as a 28' in 1990. In 1991 there is no 250 listed however there is a 260 listed but again it's listed as a 28' boat. Owner has measured and swears its measures 25' 4" in over all length. I'm stumped...

In the end, tho, why does it matter? Whether it's a 250 or a 260, if you're going by NADA or Buc's, it's the same length boat. You can value it as either a 1990 250, or a 1991 260.

That's my thought as well.

Rinker names the boats what they are not what they mesure. A 250 fiesta vee is a 25' cruiser. Rinker does not play the name game with platforms and bow pulpits.
I own a 2007 Rinker 246 captiva cuddy. It is a 24' cuddy cabin with an integral swim platform LOA is 26'2" The platform is not included in the name.
Save your road trip your buyer will be disapointed in the size of the boat. Look for a 270 fiesta vee.
Good luck, Eric

I agree with Eric. My Rinker 2000 242 Fiesta Vee and is 24' not including the 18" swim platform. Go with the 270 is my next upgrade or if I can hold out I would love a 310. The last digit is the trim package not inches.

Re: Stumped - Can't find any refference to a Rinker

The problem is, my buyer wants a 28' boat, not a 25'. (And has financing lined up for it.) I guess I'll have to go see it myself, time for a road trip...
Good inside info from the guys' on their boats' actual lengths!

Also remember that the 28' number you are getting is from NADA and/or BUC. They just make those things up, half the time. My Chaparral 2135 was listed at 22' in NADA, when it was only 20'6" LOA.
