Re: About my Johnson and previous boat
So, you got a $66 engine and same for the trailer.
When I was a teen I decided to build a boat for my 18 Rude. It was to be a 14' semi-V in plywood.
I overdid it on the oak framing and 3/8 plywood bottom and sides. When I got to the bow, I had no clamps to hold the plywood to the framing while it dried and I screwed it in place so I just cut the bow off and made it like a john boat. Now it's down to 12'.
I finished it and took it to the river for it's maiden voyage. The boat was so heavy and ill designed (by me) that I could barely get it to plane out. Don't remember what I did with it.
So, I wish you luck. There are many crafted boat builders out there.....I realized that I wasn't one of them.
