1979 mercury 80HP

I just bought a 90 cajun with a 79 merc on it. When i push the tilt button the motor works but it does not raise you lower the motor what would be causing this...i am lost when it comes to boat motors thanks in advance

Welcome to iboats...First thing to do is check your fluid level. You'll find a reservoir next to the pump motor. :D
