hello all i am looking at a boat with a 7.4 mpi fuel injected merc with a brovo 1 and the owner has told me the boat has about 155 hours on it.my question is ,the first owner used the boat in sault water,how bad could the affects be down the road from this use?and what to watch out for?

I dont know wear your from but if you plan on using it in salt water you should:

Flush the engine very well after EVERY use.

Keep a close eye on your anodes, they wear out allot faster in salt water.

Your risers and manifolds need to be changed about every 5 years. (If you have raw water cooling)


If you are using it in fresh water, I would start out by removing the risers and manifolds and have them pressure checked or just replace them. Just do a check on everything that the salt water has come in contact with and replace if any corrosion damage is found. Hoses,thermostat housing,intake/exhaust manifolds,risers and out drive...

Definately look at the manifolds, they can cost you a new engine.
