1994 mercury 40hp won't idle

Hi I have a mercury 4cylinder 1994 model 40 hp that is hard to start and will only idle when the key is constantly puch(squirt of gas from enrichment valve) I' thinking it time to re-build the carbs. The engine ran fine all last year but was getting harder and harder to start. I just want to see if you guys think the same or am I barking up a wrong tree? I value you guys' opinion. Thanks.....Robert

While cleaning the carbs put a kit in the fuel pump also, what will update the engine to E10 fuel.

Hi what is a good brand of carburator cleaner and technique to use to clean these carbs? Thanks..........Robert

With the carbs disassembled any brand of spray carb cleaner will work, be sure there is good flow by spraying through each passage with it.

You should check your reeds while your in there also.
