Re: 1972 Arrowglass Tarpon Project

I finished a 1976 Arrow Glass Tarpon 15 foot the same color as yours last year. I had to repair everything including a lot of fiberglass on the keel and the floor. I also knew nothing about fiberglass, but you become an expert really fast. Best thing I did was buy The Fiberglass Boat Repair Manual by By Allan H. Vaitses. They sell it here on iboats and other places. I had my boat off the trailer and upside down for a long time and every part on it has been gone over. From the rebuild of the trailer to the carpet on the live well. I love this boat and it is fantastic in the water!

I have hundreds of hi res pictures detailing the process if you need to get a look at something before you start.

Good luck!

Re: 1972 Arrowglass Tarpon Project

I did not have to remove the entire deck. But here is what my dad and I did. I removed rotted parts and removed the entire center channel. Drilled holes in the deck on the outside of the stringers to allow access to pour in foam to completely fill in the cavity. It shored up the floor very nice. I filled in the center cavity where the old water logged foam was with new foam. I estimate that I used a third more than Arrow Glass did. The entire floor is well supported now. I did use 3/4 inch plywood in the places that I needed new deck instead of 1/2 inch because I wanted a nice strong base to screw the pedestal seats to. Was a little hard to get it perfectly flat though. After carpet you can't tell.
