Re: 1972 Starcraft?
Re: 1972 Starcraft?
Well, I got it! Thanks for the help. It wasn't too hard to figure out that was a good deal. My wife even thought that was a lot of boat for $500. She even said, without any coaching, that since I saved her almost $400 by replacing the radiator in her Honda instead of letting Honda do it, that it was almost like getting the boat for $100. I love that woman! Back to the boat, I could put a motor and controls and a couple of seats in it and be in the water. The floor isn't that bad. Only a few spots. I'm sure that while I'm getting power for it, I'll pull up the carpet and really see what I've got. My natural inclination is to stay true to the original design, I'll be asking more questions regarding this later. I need to think about what I want to do in this boat to really decide. I wasn't looking for a boat. I've been looking for a suitable trailer to make a kayak trailer out of. It only took a second to realize this wasn't the trailer for that and when the guy starting talking about taking a sawsall to it and selling it for scrap if he didn't sell it soon, well, I couldn't have that! That even bother my wife. Yesterday I found 2 motors on Craigs list. A '73 Merc. 65 hp, and a '64 Starflite Evinrude 75hp. The Evinrude even came with the original owner's manual. Got 'em both for $100. The Evinrude looks like it has a lot of potential. I'll post some pics of them once I get the out of the back of my truck. I know better than to talk about the boat without pics, I hoping you'll let me slide for a while on the motors. Tell me what you think. Check out my Model R on the Alumacraft forum. I'm new to this site and it has already been a great resource for me. As I gain knowledge and skill, I hope to be able to return the favor some day. Thanks all.
