I have a velvet drive transmission hooked up to a 350 Mercruiser saltwater cooled engine. At the end of the year I noticed there was water mixed in with the dextron oil. It wasn't high on the dipstick. The top of the dipstick is coated with the oil/water mixture and it looks like whipped cream. Any ideas where the water could be coming from? How do I drain the transmission? The boat ran fine

You should have an oil cooler on your transmission. It's leaking. Only place water can come from, other than condensation, and you have too much for that.

To drain the trans fluid you must remove the hose from the fitting down low on the starboard side of the trans. Then you remove the fitting from the trans case. There may be a screen inside after removing the fitting. There is no drain plug on a Velvet Drive.

You can see this in the Mercruiser Service Manual #9 in the Adults Only section above. Section 8A-10
