Hi,

I have found a leak inmy carby thats causing all sorts of problems, flooding, etc so I am looking to get a remanufactured carby.

I have only found a few places that say they have the weber carby I have, which I believe is original part # "3310-806755A 1"

These guys seem to do the "A 2" verison, which I assume will work:
http://www.psepmarineparts.biz/store/mercruiser_carburetors.htm

but its a bit pricey.

I am of the impression that a Rochestor quadrajet is a standard carby also, just not what I currently have.

Does anyone see an issue with putting one of these on my engine, I am told they will bolt straight on. I think I will need a new fuel line, as its in a different spot, a new flame arrestor, and I may need to modify the throttle linkage perhaps.

Anyone done this, or can point me in the right direction.

I am in Australia so parts etc are a bit of a problem.

Have you considered rebuilding or getting your old carb rebuilt. That's a lot cheaper than a new carb of any kind.

1409 is the small one, I think the 750 w/electric choke is 1411.

try here

They list the 600CFM marine unit, can probably get the 750CFM for less than $700.

If you decide to go with the Q-jet, you will need to change/modify the throttle linkage, replace the fuel feed line, and possible install an adapter between the carb and manifold. Not difficult, but it all has to be right.

have you tried summitracing.com? the edelbrock 1409 is the 600cfm for 4.3 to 5.7. the 1410 is the 750cfm for the 454. they list new prices and rebuilt prices. heck, new is under $350! they also have carb and flame arrestor combos and they ship worldwide. this my friend is what you need for $425

mmm, interesting, will evaluate my options, bank balance and report back.

On another note I have been confirmed that the rochester will work no problems at all, just need adapter plate and new fuel line.

This will probably be the option I go with as they are readily available in the land down under.
