2002 Evinrude 250 Ficht hard to start cold

I have twin 250 hp evinrude DI's. The STBD starts quick and easy everytime cold or hot. The Port engine starts and runs fine once you get her warmed up. When trying start it cold, she will spin and spin. After working the throttle a lil and spinning on it, she will finally start. I have replaced the Battery, cables and connections, Cleaned the connections on the battery switch and had the plugs changed etc... with no joy!! :eek: Anyone know what the issue could be? Had any dealings with this issue. Any help would be appreciated. Thanksd in advance......:rolleyes:

Do you hear the electric fuel pump come on when key is turned to on? Sounds like fuel or EMM issue.

Yes I can hear ther pump running, everything sounds the same on both engines. Just the one doesnt like to start cold. Once its started and ideling u can shut it off and it starts fine every time unless it sits for a couple hours...

Use a digital voltmeter connected directly to the starter B+ post and watch the voltage as someone cranks the motor over for 10 seconds. It should be 10 volts or better. The computer (EMM) will turn off if the voltage goes below about 9.6V so a weak battery or cables or connections may cause the EMM to turn on and off and be hard starting.

If the voltage checks out OK, then connect a small jumper wire between the solenoid battery post and the pink wire on the small terminal then see if it starts better. IF so, replace the solenoid.

Did you solve this problem? I have twin 225's and my port engine has the same issue. It fires up and a couple of seconds later it idles way down and then stalls. Hard to start but after it is warm it fires off easily. Occasionally it will stall at idle but fires right back up. I have swapped the following with the starboard engine but it didn't fix the problem, fuel filters, hp fuel pump/vapor seperator, emm. Engine has fresh plugs (indexed and gapped), and fresh pure fuel. Upstream Racor water seperator is new. Battery is new and spins the engine easily. Thanks in advance!
