Old Merc carb removal

I have a 1974 Mercury 4 hp. The engine has sat up for many years and needs to have the carb removed and cleaned. I have taken the choke off, the 2 mounting nuts off and the cap over the float. How do you remove the body without taking the powerhead off? I can move the carb but cannot get it past the mounting studs. Any help would be appreciated.

I walked away from it for 24 hours. That was a good decision. Instead of comming off pulling forward, it comes off by pulling the front of the carb over to the port side of the cowling, it was easy. I just couldn't see the forest because of all of the trees.
