can some one help i need to change the top end bearing in my 1983 25hp evinrude,and i was wondering if you can change it by just taking the fly wheel of

If this is similar to the earlier (70's) 25s, you will have to split the cases. The bearing has a lock pin to keep the outer race from spinning. Best to have a factory service manual to do it.

No you cannot. You will have to split the crankcase open to lift the crank shaft off the locating pin.

Definitely get a service manual before attempting this. Also think long and hard if the motor is worth the amount of labor and parts you will have to put into it for this repair. Do a compression test first, if the compression is not good then you will be doing a full on rebuild.
