Does a 8hp 4 stroke chg a battery?

Hey guys, have a '03 Yamaha 4 stroke 8 hp kicker and wondering if it has the capability to charge a battery. It is a pull start w/o electric tilt but I am assuming it has a charging system. I would like to set this up to charge a battery and am looking for some info on how to do so....Thx in advance guys!

Hi Andy,

Here in Australia the F8 Yam has a 80W lighting coil for running the ignition but no alternator. To get an alternator you need to go up to the FT9.9 which has a 6 amp alternator. However I suggest you check with the nearest Yam marine dealer for your specific motor... good luck.
