speedometer tubing fix?

blew air through my speedo tube from gauge back and found hole on sterndrive (bravo 1), it was rubbing against casing before it goes through housing. any problem with splicing this using a dual barbed fitting? anyone know i.d. of speedo tube? thanks

Why not. Its not like it's a finely tuned calibrated instrument...

I had the same problem and cut a small 1inch section of metal brake pipe from a mini - was exactly the same diameter as the speedo hose, joined the hose with tie wraps - works perfectly...

Ayuh,... It's only a short piece of tubing,...
I'd replace the whole thing with a length of vacuum tubing from Napa...

Most auto parts stores will have plastic splices for tubing in different diameters. If it was just an area that was rubbed through, then just splice another piece in place. I tried that with mine but it was so old, the whole thing was breaking down and ended up replacing the whole line. It's just a bit of a pain to pull and then re-run everything if it's not necessary.

Just use a push lock fitting. I forgot to disconnect my line a few years back. Put a new fitting in the drive and a push lock coupler on the line. Very easy to disassemble.
