98/225hp evinrude compression numbers

Hi,

New to site.Looking for compression numbers for 98/225hp evinrude.I can't find any consitent numbers.Numbers range from 80-130 from different threads.Is there an evinrude mechanic that can help? The boat and motor I'm looking at has the following numbers.

Left side going down Right side going down

cyl 1- 89 95 100 cyl 2- 95 100 100

cyl 3- 91 96 99 cyl 4- 95 99 99

cyl 5- 85 85 95 cyl 6- 86 95 96

The numbers from your third round are excellent.

The V6s usually compress lower then other models, so about 100psi, +/- 5psi is excellent.

Do not fret about psi. What matters is the spread and It won't get any better than that.

The differences among your three tests demonstrate why MFGs won't publish specs on psi. Too many variables.

Thanks JB,

Just wanted to add that the second of numbers were after a squirt of oil.Then ran again and sat for 10 min.I'm looking to buy this 245 aquasport and the motor concerned me because I'm in PA. and the boat is in GA.The owner did the compression test.
