Electronic fishing reel - are they good?

Hi all,

I have been looking at the electric fishing reels, thre are so many brands and sizes.

could anyone provide any advice please

i would be looking at purchasing a smaller one as I only fish between 150 to 300 feet in my little boat. I would like to use it for trolling as well.

I would be grateful for any advice

They are mainly for deep dropping, I haven't heard of them being used for trolling but I guess it could be done. Keep in mind that those electric reels don't know how to fight a fish or adjust the drag, so you may lose some big ones while trolling. Just my 2 cents.

it is a good reel for deep water alright, especially with medium size fish, the setting on the drag is important.

we are going to try it trawling this weekend in the fresh water.

I will let you know what we think, I understand that the fish are not biting at the moment anyway.
