Did a search on "Conversion" and there have been several topics on the older 7.5 > 9.8 > 15, but nothing that I could see on the "newer" (1990+) 8hp.
It's a 1990 Merc 8hp 2-stroke. I believe it is almost identical to the 9.9 - same displacement, etc. I'm more familiar with the OMC 9.9 > 15 question (very simple for the early '70's motors - only a carb swap - but a little more complicated for the 1980's models, which involved reed shims and different exhaust tubes).
How simple is the Mercury conversion?
Yep, I know the simplest way would be to sell the 8 and get a 9.9, but hey, if it is only a carb switch it might be worth searching for one.
