1972 85 HP mounting holes?

1972 85 HP model 85293R.

I'm only seeing two bolt holes for mounting these heavy guys? It's the style of bracket that does not have through the tilt tube steering. Mounting holes are in the middle of the outer clamps.


Is this all the factory wanted?

You are missing the port & starboard clamps part#s-381832 & 381833,these go on each side of mounting brket...

Ok here is what I've came up with.

I'm thinking 6 bolts now?

One through the engine clamp bracket, then two through that add on side piece?

Does this look right?

Yes, and the motor can be removed from the transom with those brackets in place. You will also find that the brackets will line up with standard transom bolt holes.

For steering with a Teleflex style system, you need one of these. I got mine through a local BRP/OMC dealer, who ordered it from Donovan Marine, which is wholesale only. Be aware, however, that there are similar adapters that are rated for 40hp only, so be sure you get the right one.
