Just thought I would throw this out there. Was out in the gulf yesterday. 85 degs. and water temp. of 76. At the same time our friends and relatives are up north with the snow and bitter cold. There are an awful lot of oppertunites to grab some water front property down here at early 90s prices if you are in a position where you can use it in a short future. Not talking something for a long term investment but something you can use in the immediate future.
Example, just bought a vacant lot next to me with canal access. 4 years ago the bank loaned the buyer 147 K to purchase it with a condemmed trailer on it. Just picked it up on a short sale for 21 K. If you are thinking of retireing in the near future, take a vacation from the cold and come on down and look around.
PAUL, also distressed properties on N CAP. , see GRETCHEN when you get here. BTW, would be offended if you offered anything to park, couple of SAMUEL ADAMS or a shot of congiac at FROGGIES is more than enough. regards FRED

Re: oppertunities out there

Have been making trips to the Cape and Ft. Myers for the past couple of years with the intent of semi retiring to that area. A couple of the realtors we spoke to tried to convince us it has bottomed out. Saw a couple of pretty good deals but had to sell a couple of homes in OK first. One down - one to go. We decided this July to check out Pine Island for the first time. Loved it. Need sailboat access...she is 37 feet long and draws 4.5. Also have a Wellcraft Nova XL. Hooked up with a Pine Island realtor but wasn't shown anything we couldn't live without in St James although we really liked that part of the island. Understand some of the water/passes into the east side of St. James is pretty skinny, although haven't had a chance to check it out for myself yet. For the right price, we would locate to the Island, Cape, South Ft. Myers of Fort Myers Beach. We did make a trip up to Punta Gorda and checked east of 41 between there and North Port but didn't like it as well. Hope to be a resident/neighbor at least by fall '10
