I have a 2008 90 hp Evinrude E-Tec. I need to lift the motor off of a pallet and put it on a stand. But I can't find any place to lift it. I have a engine hoist but can't find any place to hook anything to. Does anyone have any experiance with picking up a Etec any help would be appreciated thank you.

Re: How to hoist E-Tec (lifting points)

I have a Merc 90. Merc makes a lifting ring that screws onto the top of the crankshaft just above the crank locking nut.....about 1/2" of thread above the nut. It's a fine thread so even though the length is short you get adequate threads to engage safely. I made my own with a hardware store nut and a piece of 3/8 rebar bent into the shape of a U. If you don't have enough thread, impact the crank nut off, do your thing and put it back.
