Well after a few attempts with ordinary Car primer and topcoat (Nitro laquer) I finally hand (wet and dry) sanded my L/U down to the BARE alloy.. 
<br />Gave it some liberal coats of Etch Primer.. <br />and some nice shiney Phantom Black Merc Acrylic laquer..<br />Looks a million bucks.. But it hasn't been in the salty waters of Port Phillip Bay (Melboure) yet Think I might just leave it on the trailer and admire my work for a while..<br />All that hand sanding <br />Ah well, at least it's real easy to touch up now with a bit of a spray each time.
