I recently had the gimbal bearing and seal replaced on 2000 VolvoPenta SX. Upon removing the outdrive afterwords the round spring came loose from the gimbal bearing or the seal. Is this easy enough to put back where it belongs ?

Don't worry about it, it's just the garter spring that goes around the dust seal in front of the gimbal bearing. Short of taking the gimbal bearing back out (which destroys the bearing) there isn't anyway to fix it.
The rest of the seal does all the work, there is no pressure that it's holding, and no oil to leak out.
