1997 evinrude 25 hp

Trying to drop lower unit to replace impeller, cant remember how to get lower unit to lower after getting plastic screen off and shift lever behind it loosend. and bolts of bottom of calvitation plate. Has anyone been here and done this? Thnx

Did you take off the nut on top of the anti-ventilation plate? I believe its in the front on top, but someone more knowledgeable may know different.
If you have all bolts and the nut removed and you are sure the shift rod is completely disconnected behind the plastic intake screen and it still wont drop it is either the water tube stuck in the water impeller housing or the driveshaft stuck in the bottom of the motor. For the latter i suggest a bfh preferably brass to rap on the flywheel nut a few times to try and dislodge it or try having someone turn the flywheel while you try to pull lower unit off.
for the former maybe some pb blaster between leg and foot if you can get it to seperate some right in the center prtion of the gap. GOOD LUCK.

Did you get the bolt under the trim tab?

did you take the ferrel off the shift shaft behind the screen?
