I have a 1988 135 mercury
All cylinders have 120psi accept #5 and it has 90.Is this to bad?
#5 cylinder is dead.I can remove the plug wire with no change in engine.
I have replaced the plug and coil.
It appears the cylinder is getting fire because it has fire jumping when I remove the wire. And it shocks me.
The engine is way low on power.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Tony

Re: Dead cylinder

Does your engine have the timing advance module? Its failure would explain the problems your having. I'm afraid #5 is gone and you're gonna have to fix it.

Re: Dead cylinder

Is this it?
Would the 90lb of compression explain the cylinder firing but no change in engine. It appears thet #6 only makes a small change and it has 120psi
All other cylinders make a significent change when the plug wire is removed.
