Prop diameter

Hey Guys
I have a 93 Baja 180 Islander with the 205hp 4.3lx. Bought this past summer and came with a stainless (michigan) prop 21p x 13.75 diam. I am hitting 5000rpm WOT (I know not good) with myself and my 2 girls with full fuel. Should be 4400-4800. Baja prop chart recommends 23p but does not state diameter. Being Alpha genII what size should I be shopping for? What was OEM diam.

Same diameter as you have now. No doubt about it.

Going up in pitch is correct.

Don't put any more though into it. You have an easy solution. Get the higher pitch you posted. Diameter the same.

Don't worry about OEM. Not relevant any more. Boat is long since out of the factory and your real world test at 5k RPMs is the real world result.

Ayuh,... That's because the Diameter is a function of blade design...
You pick the Pitch,...
The engineer who designs the prop picks the Diameter...

Don't worry about it...

The link below is what mercruiser has to offer in props, One of the better stainless steel prop's out there for over all use that should work varry well on your alpha drive set up is the vengeance made by mercruiser, It work varry well in most cases.
Here is the part # 16320A46 for the vengeance 13.5 Diam X 23 pitch stainless steel 3 blade right hand prop, At a MSRP of $504.34 from mercruiser right now, This info is for just in case you would like to go this route. Good luck.:)
