Motor runs and idles fine. Noticed it leaking gas/oil from the side of the motor from around the shifter area. Can't see where it is coming from, but drips from a "fitting" that holds the shift lever on. Anyone have any idea where it may be coming from? It looks like it drips from there and runs down the leg.

I believe there is an o ring behind that lever or it could be the powerhead to housing gasket.

Saw the o ring in my parts manual, but don't see what it would seal. Is there a way for gas to come out that o ring? If the powerhead gasket leaked, it wouldn't run right would it?

It's unburnt gas/oil/water residue that seeps out the shifter rod hole. Not much one can do about it. You can try changing the O ring but it's a lot of work and I find it's for little results gain. The hole just gets bigger with use after 50+ years...
