Just installed Transducer

I have a garmin 440s, and i just isntalled a transducer for it, now i have new options on my menu, oneof them is "sonar", when i go to it, i only get temp reding i dont get any depth reading... Dos the transducer need to be in the water to read depth shouldnt it tell me that it is 2ft from the floor?? (the boat is on a trailer)

Nope. Don't use your sonar to measure distance through air and don't use your radar underwater. :D Your depth sounder will work once you get the boat in the water.

I agree, the sonar most definitely won't read in air.
