Hi All, I am trying to replace the cam reverse lock on my 1973 20hp outboard Mercury 200.. The problem I'm having is how do I remove the 2 lower and 2 upper engine mount rubbers on either side of the drive shaft housing? I have removed the 4 ring retainers but cant seem to budge the mount rubbers... are they supposed to just pull out.... Any advice would be much appreciated... (any advice on fitting the cam reverse lock would also be appreciated... Thanks Steve (UK new member)

Hi Steve,

I'm not familiar with your engine, but it sounds similar to the Dyna-Float suspension on the Mark 30. If so, the service manual calls for a special tool that threads into the rubber mounts:

From the pre-1965 service manual:
"...thread small end of Saddle Mount Puller (C-91-26005A1) screw securely into rubber mount threads. Place Propeller Shaft Gear Tool (C-91-23663A1) cover over screw and place large washer and nut of puller tool on screw, then tighten nut to pull out rubber mounts."

Sounds like you might be able to fabricate something. The good news is that the manual just calls for a C-clamp to press them back in... .

I hope you get a more definite answer from someone with The Knowin'!

Good luck!
