Looking for a OMC control box part: part# 0390610

As stated in the title, I am looking for johnrude control box part # 0390610. It is the part that the shift cable end attaches to. It is no longer available via OMC parts dealers....unless one has some nos.

This part was used in control boxes from 1982 thru the late 90s and even some early 2000s. It retail listed for about $28.00.

If someone knows a dealer or person that has this part available for sale...please let me know. Even a source for a used one would be ok. Hopefully I will get a post or a pm with some helpful info :).

After a ton of searching, I have found the part on ebay for $50.00 and on an online OMC parts store for $50.00. It appears now that an aftermarket company is manufacturing a reproduction of the part and it now retails almost double the original OMC list price.

At this point, I am not sure weather to buy a complete used control box for around $100 or or give in and buy the overpriced aftermarket part for $50. With a used control box I would have spare parts and probably the wrong length cables :).

What do you think? Any other suggestions?

Go to AOMCI.org and place a want ad on their Webvertize. Someone will have what you're looking for.

Hi Dave. I too am searching for the same part and would be willing to pay the $50 but can't find it anywhere. Is there any chance you remember where you were able to find the aftermarket version?

After more research, that original part is no longer available. With some modification there is another part that will work. Here is a post that with information on what to do.

There is a company that makes the part u need the link below will take u to their site then just enter either the johnson/evinrude part number 390610 or the Mallory part number 9-71101. They also make a replacement part for johnson/evinrude part number 397272 which is Mallory part number 9-71100
