i was told by my boat yard to use through bolts as it is more impact resistant , but im hearing a convincing argument saying that normal screws in the same 316 material would have the same sheer resistance and easier to attach the rub rail with . i already have both the through bolts and the screws .any one have experience with attaching rub rails and could comment on a strong way to attach it with impact resistance . i also have 5200 in black and its the normal speed . this person said i should have gotten fast set ,but i told him they only make it in white and i needed black ,any feed back there . thnks

Re: attaching semi rigid rubrail

i could see where thru bolting the topcap on would be better but the rub rail isn't going to go anywhere. i got a rubrail kit thru iboats (taco brand rub rail) that came with screws. they worked fine.

the insert will 'float' in the rail anyway. it has a little movement to it.

not sure about the fast vs slow set. i used fast. i guess you need to make sure it doesn't sag or run before it sets.
